Starting long ago, in 1907, Lewis Smith had a hobby of making his own mustard. When confronted with the problem of what to put his mustard in, the first L. E. Smith glass tank was built. From the seeds of mustard-making, Lewis Smith harvested what has become nearly a century of rich traditions and excellent craftsmanship. Today, L. E. Smith Glass is preserving the "lost art" of making glass by hand. Through hard work and a commitment to quality, the company has withstood the test of time and they are one of only a handful of American hand-made glass factories remaining. The L. E. Smith Glass Company believes and lives by the credo that Lewis Smith instilled over 90 years ago: "Do what you do better than anybody else does it."
