Cookbooks from the nineteenth century, though often hard to find, are a delight to today's collectors both for their quaint formats and printing methods as well as for their outmoded, often humerous views on nutrition. Ones with unique features such as illustrations by artists or references to famous people or places are priced in accordance. Cookbook written earlier than 1874 are the most valuable and when found command prices as high as $200 and up. As is true with all other books, if the original dust jacket is present and in nice condition, the value does increase somewhat.
